I am a cat fan or a cat Lady sort of speak. However, the designs on this book are quite challenging and beautiful. The pictures are beautiful.
I cannot express how pleased I am with Creative Haven books & with Marjorie Sarnat's work. I have many of her books & about 15 Creative Haven books. The quality of the books & the work is very consistent. I have many other books that are hit & miss.This book like all of Marjorie's is adorable. Full of fun kittens, treats, flowers & so on. It is not overly details but detailed enough for adults & I think kids would love it as well. All of the pages are printed on one side & they are perforated for easy removal. None of the art runs into the binding & each page has a border. You get a full page which is excellent. I am tired of books that the subject is just in the center with nothing else to color.As with all coloring books if you are using markers or pens, use blotter paper between the pages. Crayons & pencils are fine. I make copies onto marker paper so that I can color each page more than once. I have included some samples from inside as well as the front, back & inside covers along with 2 pages I completed using Copic markers & Sakura gel pens.
I own a number of Marjorie Sarnat's coloring books – the first of which was her cute “Creative Catsâ€. I've gone through a couple of copies of that book and was longing for more cute cat designs from Ms. Sarnat. “Creative Kittens†is an adorable follow-on to the Cats book. It shows a variety of kittens in cute and playful poses.It reminds me of the four kittens my husband and I rescued and adopted (we also caught their feral mama and neutered and released her back around our house. The kittens were so playful and fun and I get the same feeling from this coloring book.As with all of Ms. Sarnat's coloring books, there is a high level of detail. While there are some small areas to color, I don't consider the designs to be intricate and hard to color.This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.31 Cute and fun to color kitten designs by Majorie SarnatThe designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly rough and has perforated pages.Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple.The designs stop well before the perforations and each of the designs has a framing line at the outer edge.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well with this paper and even better than many of the more recent Creative Haven coloring books I have bought. I was able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.
Since I loved Creative Haven's Creative Cats colouring book, I was excited to see they were coming out with a Kittens book and immediately pre-ordered it. It was worth the wait! These images are thoughtful, detailed, unique, and, as I said, just ever so cute! I'm really enjoying colouring them, watching those cute kittens in adorable situations come to life with colour is so calming. Definitely suitable for midrange to expert colourists, there's so much intricate detail in the pictures, but this should by no means deter beginners! The paper is of good quality and the pages are perforated for easy removal and display. As with any adult colouring book, I'd suggest putting a sheet of blank paper behind the page you are working on to prevent pens bleeding through onto or denting the next picture.Altogether, I'm highly satisfied with this product and recommend it to anyone who enjoys colouring - and very cute kittens!
Marjorie Sarnat has put out another Creative Cats book. Only this time, she named it Creative Kittens. If you liked Creative Cats (which I did), you will enjoy this one. My biggest complaint is that Ms. Sarnat has put too many itty bitty things to color. They vary by page. My eye sight is no longer 20/20, so it is often difficult to color those little things she puts on a page. All in all, a nice coloring book that I'm enjoying.
Marjorie Sarnat has done it again! Another awesome creation by her. I absolutely love the Creative Haven coloring books, as well as my granddaughters. These are so fun to color. Marjorie does amazing art work in all her adult coloring books. You won't be disappointed with this purchase. Just remember to make sure to put some blank copy paper or anything you have so that if your using markers it doesn't bleed through onto the next page. Or you can tear the pages out also. My grandmother loves Marjorie Sarnat's coloring books. From what I gather, it's this artist's style in conjunction with the subject matter that my grandma loves. This book is no exception. She enjoyed it immensely. She colors a great deal so it's a good thing that Marjorie has published multiple books.My grandma can sit for hours with her 150 set of Prisma's and color to her hearts content. This has really been great for her memory. In fact, this was suggested by her physician to help with memory. It has been a very positive thing in that regard, as well as giving her a creative outlet.
