Such a pleasure to read a historical novel that is so well written, interesting in its plot, and with characters whose transformations are believable. All this, plus “Eternity Between Us” contains a sweet love story and two orphans in need of a family. Romantic and clean, this latest release from Stephenia McGee is a gem worth your time.

3.5 stars"I swear, Evelyn Mapleton, you would be a fine catch for the theatre. Tell me, is it hard for you to fabricate such a persona or does it come easily?"Never once did Evelyn Mapleton intend to put herself in the middle of a "space as wide as eternity", it just happened that way. Living in the much conflicted state of Virginia, where loyalties were wildly diverse in the midst of a young nation's civil war, she flees one place of supposed refuge in order to find another. But safety can be as fleeting as a wisp of smoke, especially after her path continually crosses with that of a young medical resident, Samuel Flynn. Just which Evelyn Mapleton can she manage to be, when kind, assessing eyes seem to follow her every move in his hospital; his very Federal hospital. The first time Samuel Flynn laid eyes on Evelyn Mapleton, she emerged from the edge of a deep wooded forest, much like a fairy princess out of a child's storybook. But he soon learned that an iron will resided within the dark haired beauty, for the explanation of her whereabouts made absolutely no sense. Imagine his surprise when she appears once again, this time as a hospital volunteer, taking great care of his patients and confusing his heart, especially when her loyalties prove to be divided.Stephenia McGee has taken a seemingly impossible possibility and crafted it into albeit dangerous, but satisfying reality when she dares to weave a determined secessionist into the life of peace keeping federalist, displaying history from a new, and possibly better, perspective.

"Eternity Between Us" by Stephenia H McGee is a novel that you will want to finish before putting it down. It is filled with intrigue and betrayal and is based on first-hand accounts from the Civil War. It is also a clean love story about a man and woman who are on opposite sides during the war. If you like stories based on the civil war and like reading about spies then "Eternity Between Us" is for you and there is another bonus for readers if you are like me and like children in the books you read, Benjamin and Emily will melt your hearts. There are a couple of scenes that will make the readers with tender hearts need a tissue because it tells how prisoners of war are treated by a certain doctor from the opposing side of the war. I think if more were like Samuel and Evelyn, there might not have been as many casualties of the Civil War because they know all men have feelings and deserved to be treated equally. Can Samuel and Evelyn learn to trust each other and follow their hearts?I recommend that you read the section, "Historical note", after reading the novel because it explains the historical facts that was included in the story.I received a complementary copy by the author. These opinions are my own.

A story of daring , beliefs, wanting and struggle. Evelyn desperately wants to be loved and accepted, especially by her father. When Yankees invade her aunts home and threatens them she reacts with courage. Thinking she could be a spy would help her father and make him proud of her, she gets entangled with another girl and a dangerous plot. Meeting Dr Samuel, a Yankee, makes a change in her life. The plot is thick, filled with danger and many twists. It holds your interest and is well written and edited.

This story set in the Civil War era, sets the stage for empowerment of women in a time of horrible tragedy. War is hell and Evelyn will do just about anything for the cause. Even test her faith in God. Written withsuch ferverence and reverance. I loved it and thought it was well edited and executed. Thank you Stephenia for another great read.

This story takes place in Washington and Virginia during the Civil War. It's the story of Eve!yn who is part Indian, and discriminated for it even in her own family. She wants to contribute to the Confederate War effort so begins her venture into spying. She teams up with another young girl who turns out to be an enemy. They work as aides in a couple of hospitals and the story gets complicated when she falls in love with a Yankee doctor. Good book!!

Great characterization and a fast-moving plot make this book an excellent read. Fell in love with Samuel Flynn from the beginning. Interesting inclusion of racial bias towards not only African Americans but Native Americans as well.

I love the fact that Stephenia does so much research and weaves some real people and events into her writing. These characters seem so real you can feel them. I fell in love with Benjamin and Emily. A really good read. Thank you again as I love Civil War stories!
